Form follows function

Our organization

To achieve our goals, we established the non-profit LZE e.V. This organization oversees our mission, serves as the administrative body headquarters, and holds all shares in LZE GmbH.

At LZE GmbH, we take charge of the operational implementation of the projects. Our accomplishments speak for themselves: a workforce of 20 employees, over 150 successfully completed projects, more than 18 spin-offs, and annual revenue of approximately €2.5 million.

What sets us apart from other transfer centers

  • Independent of vested interests

    LZE GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the LZE e.V., a registered
    non-profit association established by the research community. The
    association's charter is to promote science and education, a mission
    which gives us the operational freedom to focus our activities on
    serving the public interest.

  • We create products

    We break down barriers to accessing technology. To accomplish this, we
    provide market-ready technology components directly from our research.
    Our hands-on approach sets us apart from most consulting-focused
    centers.

  • We take responsibility

    We hold our professional products and services to the highest quality
    standards. To ensure this, we have established a robust operational
    framework, certified our processes under ISO 9001:2015, and mitigated
    residual risks with our insurance partners.

2015

Start of the LZE pilot phase

We piloted the LZE as part of a funded project. The LZE was officially opened in the context of a press event at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.

We are exploring new technology transfer methods in four pilot projects.

2017 - 2018

Creating the organization

We founded the supporting association LZE e.V. as an umbrella organization and, under it, the commercially operating LZE GmbH to carry out our projects.

We started with four employees.

2019

Piloting our Invention Store

We were launching a pilot program for our own shop of tangible technology products.

Our first licensing agreement worth over 1 million euros has been signed.

2022

ISO9001 certification

We believe that a well-designed QM process can help with technology transfer, and there is always room for improvement. That is why we obtained ISO 9001 certification. On August 8, 2022, we passed the initial certification.

LZE GmbH celebrates its fifth anniversary

We're celebrating our fifth anniversary and looking back on an exciting time. LZE GmbH now employs 20 passionate pioneers of progress.

2023

Piloting of our store for SaaS products begins

We are starting to pilot our SaaS offering as part of the first and second wave of projects. The goal is to make Fraunhofer's data-driven research projects available to commercial users.

2024

More than 1,000 customer orders

We've received our 1,000th order from customers in our stores. We're proud of the trust you've placed in us.
